Scam Websites

scam_300jpg

We have been alerted by lots of our customers to the following websites:

  • www.unlock-apple-iphone.com – claim to be able to unlock iPhone 3G and 3GS at version 2.2.1 using software – er, wrong! No support, no money back either, avoid like the plague
  • www.iphoneunlocking.org.uk, iphone.unlock.no, and www.iphoneunlocking.com (both owned by same conman) – claim to be able to unlock iPhone 3G at 3.0, well guess what you pay and there’s no software, you email and there’s no support, you call and no-one answers – obviously a total scam. How paypal can continue processing for these people is beyond me. UPDATE – Paypal has stopped processing for them. See below for some customer experiences of theirs! Fortunately they use swreg for payment processing, and its easy to get money back if you know how, just see one of the comments below fore details.
  • www.unlock-the-iphone.com – claim to have sold ‘millions’ of unlocking solutions, er yeah right! You get a fake download link, no support (obviously) and they also claim to be able to unlock 2.2.1 using software just to entice you to pay. Paypal stopped processing for them due to their completely false advertising and obtaining money through deception, but they are using a different processor now. Please don’t fall for their lies.
  • www.appleuk.net (selling ‘unlocked 3G iPhones’ for £200 – you won’t see your money, or an iPhone, again!)
  • Unlock-Iphone-Scams.Blogspot.com – this purports to be a ‘blog’ from a gentleman who tried a few websites which ‘bricked’ his iPhone until he found easyiphoneunlocking.com – don’t fall for it, the only scam here here is the site unlock-iphone-scams.blogspot.com itself. The websites (easyiphoneunlocking.com included) are owned by the same person, and not only that, it is impossible to brick an iphone by unlocking it – the software either works (as ours does) or is vapourware and doesnt even run and does nothing. If they dont know how to unlock an iPhone they certainly won’t know how to brick one.
  • www.iPhoneUnchained.com – claims to be able to unlock 2.2.1 with software, again a total scam. No support, no nothing
  • www.AppleUnlockiPhone.com,
  • www.newiphoneunlock.com – claims to be able to unlock 3G at 2.2.1, obviously they can’t, no support once bought, SCAM
  • www.321iphoneunlocking.com

These claim to be able to offer the iPhone 3G unlock and also unlock version 2.0 iPhones – they CANNOT nor will they offer support. They merely provide you with a link to purchase some free software that doesnt work and you will simply been locked out of their phones and you will need to come back and use our software (and sim solution for 2.2.1 3G iPhones).

Please be aware of these websites and if in doubt, ask us. Remember – iPhone 3G at 2.2.1/2.30.03 baseband cannot be unlocked with software.

If you have been cheated by any website in the past, if you send us your proof of purchase email and a quick note to sales@iphoneunlockuk.com and we will give you a half price subscription to our website.

iphone.unlock.no happened to me in a state of panic when I upgraded my 3GS to 3.1.2 to find out it wasn’t working anymore last Sunday night. Desperate to get it working again I bought from the aforementioned web site only to find a collection of freely avaialable old stuff, not working for the 3GS, no real application and no repsonse to (support) requests what so ever.

I paid through Paypal who still DO accept payments to them and immediately (automatically) denied my claim for refund. I have reported them to the IC3 (www.ic3.gov), suggest others do the same. I will continue to report them as frauduleus with every authority I can think of. It’s really to sad for words to see that they are still operating despite all these negative reports that can be found if you just google them.

Yes what is sad is that people think paypal offers them some kind of protection – they DONT they just pretend to and fluff it up in some fancy way calling it “Buyer Protection” which actually only covers delivery of things, not whether the things work or not or even if they are fit for purpose!!! I once ordered an iPhone from a website and they sent me an empty box full of stones – seriously. I contacted paypal who said because it was delivered that was all they cover for, non-delivery of goods. Unbelievable. Paypal are on the side of the scammers, always have been, always will be.

SOMETHING WHICH NEEDED TO BE DONE TO STOP THIS MY STORE LIMITED SCAMS !!!.

I have been buying various products online for a long time, but I never came across any deceptive marketer or seller, this is my first occurance with MY STORE LIMITED, also with provocation , used former buyer/customer from Pakistan without any truth and nor written paper evidence ( use deceptive tactics ! ).

Here my case with MY STORE LIMITED :

Regulation of law of Indonesia permit a person to buy only 1 unit Iphone from overseas, also I told them this regulation of law of Indonesia, before placing my order to MY STORE LIMITED and they agreed & no problem that I could order for only 1 ( ONE ) unit Iphone 3GS – 32GB.
So, on Thursday, Sept., 3rd., 2009, I sent my money ( £234 GBP = $380.00USD) through WESTEN UNION transfer and MY STORE LIMITED confirmed and received my money at the same day.

Suddenly they told and forced me that I have to send more money to them for 2 units more + get 1 unit free, I refused to send more money to MY STORE LIMITED, because I don’t want to against and impinge my own country law, and then they surely not to send my order as well as do not return my money though by cancelling my order. Up to now they are intimidating me to send more money to MY STORE LIMITED.

    Here the complete informations :

    MY STORE LIMITED

    MTCN # : 167-303-8292 ( WESTERN UNION TRANSFER )
    SENDER NAME : BING YOENATHAN
    SURABAYA 60141 – INDONESIA

    Note :
I reported my case for the third times by email to Inspector Sue Sandeson, Chief Police Officer in Ilkley City, United Kingdom and the reponds quite surprise me, from help desk person with name Michelle that my case : is a civil matter and is not normally dealt with by the Police. However, we will ask an officer to call round to the company to investigate on your behalf. In the meantime. Up to now there is no conformation at all. Any suggestion what should I do to !.

Hi Bing – well first lesson in online purchasing – DO NOT EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING USING WESTERN UNION as you have NO recourse to get your money back.

Secondly, if something is too good to be true then it is – £234 for an iPhone 3GS? They retail for £550 over here. I dont think there is much you can do as the police are correct, this is a civil matter not a criminal one, they have simply breached their contract for not supplying goods to you. All I can suggest is filing the matter with the small claims court – google for this onine.

    Hi all,

I bought the software from “http://easyiphoneunlocking.com”. They are not responding to my query even after putting in all the details. I have spent 34 USD on the software.

I would not recommend buying from them at all.

    Thanks

I have also been scammed by iphoneunlocking.com. Today I put in a dispute claim through PayPal, which was shut down and closed from start to finish in 10mins!!

I called them today after finding out about this website from other frustrated customers from the comments above. I asked PayPal why they shut the claim without a refund. They stated that because it was done outside Ebay (buyer protection) and that it was an electronic transaction, there was no proof of what had happened. I told them that the company was a scam using SWREG, Inc. and they were operating under a few websites. I also said to PayPal, what were they going to do about it – not a lot it seems, but one thing they did say was that, if they got numerous complains, under ten! Then they would look into them and closed down the trading capabilities with PayPal and also suspend other website PayPal accounts connected to them.

    What PayPal said –

You have chosen to escalate your dispute to a PayPal claim. By ending
communication with the seller, you are asking PayPal to investigate the
case and decide the outcome. As part of our investigation, PayPal reviewed
any communication you may have had in the Resolution Centre.

Our investigation into the following transaction is complete. As stated in
our User Agreement, the claims process only applies to the delivery of
goods. It does not apply to complaints about the attributes or quality of
goods received. Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or
    issue a refund.

So, if you have been scammed and used PayPal, you must file a claim against these scumbags, and not do what I nearly did, thinking ‘what the hell, it’s only £30′ no, you must do this as it’s the only way.

    Cheers

    Paul

I felt bad by made a purchase on http://www.iphoneunlocking.com/ without reading these comments. Lost $33.49, Paypal doesn’t accept my dispute and haven’t heard from SWREG (Digital River?). I’m going to start the dispute process with my Credit Card company.

I bought a new iPhone 3G from Apple store in US last Monday (that’s before 3Gs started selling and OS3.0 available) and intended to use it in China. Can anyone help? I don’t know which site I can trust anymore.

Chen – just use our site to unlock your iPhone 3G. Price is £29.99

i got scammed!!! :( by this site http://www.iphoneunlocking.org.uk/
sad thing is it said it can also unlock the newer version of firmware then after u bought it u only get the instructions and so for 2.2 ver
shame and its my first time zzz lost £23.63 Is there no way to get our money back?

iphoneunlocking.org.uk, iphone.unlock.no and iphoneunlocking.com are all the same website and use swreg. To get your money back from them simply use this link: https://www.swreg.org/cgi-bin/msgwizard.cgi

For other sites, if you paid by credit card – YES! If you paid via Paypal – NO. Paypal is a scammers best friend, as their dispute process only refers to whether you received the goods, not what the goods are or whether they work or not! So I could sell you a car on paypal, deliver you a rollerblade, and the dispute would be in my favour. Crazy!! Anyone selling by Paypal alone steer well clear.

I just had to tell this one :
I purchased a brand new iphone3G 2.2.1/2.30.03 and wanted to change the provider from O2 to Vodafone as they have better roaming rates.
I purchased and downloaded cydia / yellowsn0w from http://www.iphoneunlocking.com but the unlocking didnt work and despite trying for 3 days to contact them via phone / email and their blog .. no answer.
Then I found iphoneunlockuk.com and emailed asking for advice – Jody answered back within a few minutes and said the unlock package + piggyback sim would solve the problem. I ordered the package but noticed in the download instructions that there was a possibility of downgrading 2.30.03 to 2.28.00 and followed the instructions – it worked and i then had an iphone that could be software unlocked. Another email to Jody ( at 20.30 at night ) and another answer within a few minutes and i installed their 3G Unlocker and changed sim and it WORKS …… Vodafone is running. Thanks again Jody

    all the best … Charlie

No problem Charlie, pleased that you’re finally up and running. When will people learn to stop lining these scammers pockets who do absolutely NOTHING in exchange for your hard earned money!

    Hi,

I am another person who sounds like I will be added to the http://www.iphoneunlocking.com/ website list, who has been scammed.
You say you are offering a half price subsciption if we send the proof of purchase email.
I work in Birmingham, so wondered what the price would be to get my phone unlocked if I called in?
    The iPhone is v.2.2.1/2.30.03 baseband.

Thanks for your blog advice in advance.

    Karl

Hi Karl – is this sorted now?

Thank you. I was assisted this morning by Tim who was fantastic. He was able to put up with rambling stories of an old man and direct me clearly on what I need to do.
Apparently I need that have the Piggy Back Sim card which had been ordered but had not been shipped to me. I gave him my address here in Paris and he is arranging to have it sent to me. He gave me instructions on how I should call back as soon as I have the Piggy Back Sim card and I can then be help to set up my phone for its current firmware edition. He also informed me that I will not be able to get the 3.0 version until June but that I can still use my phone today once everything is downloaded and added to my current configurations.

I have been ran around lied to, sent from website to website which are always out of business or phone numbers which do not answer.

I can say however that your company has been upfront and honest with me. There have been people like yourself who have made certain I was attended and excellent support persons like Tim who I found to be very honest, intelligent and someone I would hire for my organization. (He is however quite happy where he is) the bottom line is there Is a Myriad of companies claiming to be online giving unlocking software for iPhone but if you give them your Money it is as good as gone.

I a dismayed by the fact that Pay Pal would even consider to give service to these clearly fraudulent companies and I can only imagine the grief must cause you to have to try and deal honestly as you have in this type of environment

If am happy to testify to anyone who is interested that you are indeed an honest and accessible company that give the services purchased. I am confident that I will shortly receive my piggy back Sim Card (something nobody else either chooses not to mention or they do not know) that is necessary to be able to unlock my iPhone as promised.

Yes it cost me more than 1400 GBP to purchase your product but I will actually receive something for my money when in every other case I am wasting my time filing disputes that I cannot even believe Pay Pal needs to investigate. It is so very clear that there is one real McCoy (to use and American phrase) and that company is you. All others are fake or if you purchase from them you will only have problems as they do not even tell persons that you can only unlock Verision 2.2.1 with the additional Sim Card.

I have no doubt but what the manufacturers of the iPhone are most certainly in collaboration with the Oranges of France and the ATT’s of the USA to have a complete Monopoly upon hardware which the consumer purchases and like a computer should have the right to use the software he desires.

I have even use ATT with a 3G BlackBerry but choose not to use it as my primary business phone and desire to use it as a backup phone with a local number here in Paris. When I visit Orange they want me to turn in my new paid for iPhone for an expensive long term contract for the exact same thing that they will charge me through the gills when I already have everything needed and they would earn very good money simply selling to me a prepaid sim card. Rather than do this they prefer to lie to the customer and tell us that it is not possible for them to take my ATT inactive iPhone and make it work with their prepaid sim card.

This is simply a matter of greed. Then it comes together with those individuals who make the situation even worse by selling worthless software which they never deliver and I am certain most likely ½ of the people never get their money back due to the prolong and difficult dispute problem of Pay Pal.

I guess I will go back to purchasing everything with American Express as when I am ripped off by vendors they issue a dispute return my money and they fight the battle with the crocked companies.

You however stand to be commended on your Integrity, support and honest delivery of what you sell to your customers.
Tell all those internet buyer who are about to make a mistake to read this review of an honest old man who sell believe that the mark of good business is still integrity, connectivity and follow up service with a live human being. All of these items I received from your company

Thank you for being who and what you are. A vendor who truly values his customers.
    Respectfully,
    Joe.

iPhoneUnlocking.com are now taking paypal payments through Plimus (www.plimus.com). I’ve just sent them an email warning them that they’re scamming people. I’ve also been scammed for £16.99. I didn’t use a credit card meaning I’ll never see that money again. Ugh, what a waste.

I’d also love to see them take legal action against you. Now that would be fun to watch. ;)

Sending this from my iPhone in Thailand, which I unlocked using your excellent software.

    UPDATE

I just received this email from “Greg Srong” at iphoneunlocking.com. What I find amusing is that they think that these postings above are “fake”:

    wrote:

    Hello Jody.

Just a polite warning to you.
If you do not remove all of your negative “FAKE, ILLEGAL” comments regarding iPhoneUnlocking.org.uk and iPhoneUnlocking.com from your “Scam Websites” we will take legal action against you.

We have threatened this in the past and we have never followed through but we have been seeking legal advice recently and we have learnt that we are bang to rights to do so.

We are also launching our own blog within a week or two and we will be more than happy to dedicate a whole section on your website. The choice is up to you. This is our final warning and we will take action if we see no effort on your part to remove “your” remarks.

    Thank You.
    Greg Srong
    iPhone unlocking Ltd
    http://www.iPhoneUnlocking.com

    And here was my reply:

    Hi ‘Greg’

They’re not fake, nor are the illegal. They were originally your customers,
we have their IP addresses and you can even do a search within your old
paypal account for their email addresses to realise that they are yours.

If you even cared about your customers you will see that they are yours, but
being as you seem to ignore all their emails regarding support or refunds
I’m not surprised that you don’t recognise anyone’s name or email address.

Thanks for this email – just about to copy and paste it up to the blog now.

Looking forward to the legal action – seriously I am. I really hope you’ve
saved some of that money you earnt last year and are ready to pay HMRC her
17.5% VAT which is due, and 40% income tax as well as you were operating as
a sole trader, as well your legal bill against my company.

I’m not into underhanded tactics, and I certainly wouldn’t put fake postings
on our blog to dismiss a competitor as that is slander.

The only fake posting I can see is:

    1. lies about what they can do (unlock 3G at 2.2.1 with software)
    2. money back guarantee
    3. offering any kind of support

Which isn’t on our site, its yours.

    Kind regards,

    Jody Sanders

Paid Via paypal for iphone unlocking software from http://www.iphoneunlocking.com, (2) days later well you quessed it “Nothing”,email returned to mailbox and phone # not working. My first scam and hopefully my last. Very Dissappointed

Hi Juan – I still fail to understand why anyone would use anyone but ourselves (http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com) to get their iPhones unlocked, all the other sites out there are complete scams, and there are so many now its too numerous to list. Why does paypal continue to accept payments for what basically amounts to obtaining money through deception?

I just bought an unlocking software from http://www.inphoneunlocking.com and guess what? It’s a scam! Before I bought the software, the live contact person, named Mark was nice and polite. But after I’ve purchased the product and found out that it’s not what it has been advertised,I contacted Mark using the live support by using another name and he said I’ll be given an updated link soon(which I think I won’t get it now),and right after that he just left the live chat room.Later on,I’ve been using different names to contact him,and the most irritating part was that he only appears when I’m asking for the price,is it reliable, etc. When I asked about the reund policy,he just left away. And when I said I’ve purchased his software,he just left away also.It clearly shows that this website is a scam and therefore,I urge everyone not to purchase anything from http://www.iphoneunlocking.com.

Like a used car sales – great before you buy, but as soon as you leave the forecourt with their product they arent interested. Steer well clear of these guys.

    Hello Everyone.

I am the previous owner of http://www.iphoneunlocking.com and I personally apologize to anyone who feels hard done by or “ripped off” There is no doubt that you will have received a full refund.

The customer service has been poor over the past months as we have been transferring the business over to the new owner. Obviously there has been some teething problems as with all new businesses.

I am quite frankly shocked by the immaturity of Jodies remarks on some of your comments.

The fact that you are a limited company does not legitimize what you do or who you are. You are just hiding being this and the fact that you pay VAT to show that you are legitimate.

Ask yourselves why are http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com trying so hard to prove they are legitimate? Why are they stooping so low as to get you to try and report other business owners to Customs and trading standards.

This is just plain malicious behavour.

Anyone would be a fool not to see this.

You will be seen for what you are http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com and you will get your just desserts.

you are making alot of enemies in this industry and the fact that you think we are all teenagers sat in our bedrooms just goes to show how seriously you have underestimated us all.

Good Luck and have a very nice day Jodie.

    Bye.

Hi – sadly it’s not malicious. If anyone was committing benefit fraud or not paying taxes, they deserve to be reported. Regardless of who they are, they are undermining the rest of the United Kingdom and her population by doing this. We all have to pay tax, via PAYE, corporation tax, or whatever. Just because you are not a legal entity and have setup a website with a paypal account, does not mean that you can commit tax evasion – you do realise this is a prisonable offence?

It is a fact that if you reside in the UK, and earn money, then you have to pay tax on it! Why should Phone Unlock Ltd pay tax and file year end accounts and other ‘legal’ entities behind other websites not, it incurs a competitive advantage and not only that, we are paying tax for the mutual benefit of everyone.

We aren’t trying so hard to prove we are legitimate – we ARE legitimate. We have offices in London and Birmingham, we employ staff. You were always 1 person in their bedroom. We pay taxes on our profits for the benefit of every UK resident. We aren’t doing it though to try to prove to be legitimate – we do it because we legally HAVE TO – as YOU should have done.

No-one has underestimated you, but you have vastly underestimated HMRC and the legal obligation to pay tax, and you are the one who will get your just desserts. I’d say you were the one who needs good luck.

Furthermore – we are not the one making enemies. I imagine every single on of your customers is an enemy of yours, after all – what do they get for their money? A procedure that doesn’t work and no support!

I had the same problem as Shawn. I used http://www.iphoneunlocking.com/ and have had no luck. I called and some one actually picked up the first time. He asked me to sit tight for 2-3 weeks until they cracked the code. That was 2 months ago. I have left numerous messages, emails, and live chat messages. I have had the same results as Shawn. I wrote Paypal and made a complaint. I guess there must have been a number of complaints because they now use moneybooker.com to receive payments. I will call them tomorrow to give them a heads up about their new client.

Is there anything else we can do to stop these guys or inform potential victims?

    Cheers,
    Emily

Yes there is – you can inform your local trading standards regarding false advertising, although they have since changed their website. You can also inform Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs about the person behind the website

Had a slight problem with iTunes not reconising my iphone after update. But I just clicked the ok tab. Restarted my computer and reconnected iphone and iTunes asked me if I wanted to “Restore from back up” after doing that, the iphone was reconised it again.

If someone wants i can share what they passed onto me when i pressed the BUY button, it is a PDF file with instructions, it requires a restore of the phone with their software and all claims that their solution is one click and no technicalities are all fake, I have got persistent errors like 1601/1602 restiring with their IPSW file and I almost lost my Brand new phone (I couldnt even at one point get a restore going from Apple site to its original state) I want to put this to every feedback site as this is just simple fraud and someone is making money by doing nothing….

Its charlatans like this that make people distrust honest companies such as ourselves.

Another one gets scammed by http://www.iphoneunlocking.com got new iphone, got sucked into the temptation of paying one of the most expensive unlock solution, GUYS it just doesnt work and the web site doesnt keep their promises to reply emails or even refund money. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from their web site, they are a COMPLETE FRAUD.

I wish I would have checked this site out before falling for the iShop UK scam as I have parted with the best part of 200 quid for SFA!

I was just going to buy the new iPhone 3G from iShopUK when i read this forum. They offered me and imported iPhone for £99.00. I asked how they have this phone available, cos even Apple store dont have it yet, and they said it was some extra mobiles that they bought from US blablabla.
Anyway, seemed to me so cheap and, thanks god, i didnt made any deposits to them.
Anyone knows how realiable they are? I mean, iShop UK?!

Carl – if something is too good to be true, it is. The person behind this website has already just escaped charges regarding doing something with the original iPhones.

Jody, I am assumeing that sinse it is not the new 3.0 it must be the 2.5G The guy I bought them from had version 1.1.4 on them until he took them home the clean all his personal info off before giving them to me and he did a restore through ITunes and now I have really pretty paper weights.

Hi Shawn – sorry we didn’t get back to you immediately, is it a 2.5G iPhone or a 3G iPhone?

I purchased ( believe I was scamed) a downloadable software that was suppost to unluck my 8G with V2.0 (5A347) from http://www.iphoneunlocking.com and it did not work.I have tried to email and contact them with no luck. Your site states you will give half off if I send proof of purchase. I sent a copy of the email receipt I have and I never heard back from your company. Can your software unlock the above mentioned version and if so how can I take advantage of your half off offer? Thanks- Shawn
