iPhone Software Update 2.0.2

Wow - that was quick Apple :o)

This has now been released from Cupertino. It resolves many of the 3G connection issues several people were experiencing in high density conurbations as well as low signal 3G areas.

Apparently 3G connection speed is vastly quicker with this update - nice one apple!

If you don’t run any custom applications from Cydia, feel free to update using iTunes to 2.0.2, you will remain SIM unlocked for any network.

If you use Cydia and the additional apps it provides, login to your iPhoneUnlockUK account to download our custom firmware.

New facebook!

For those of you facebook junkies, here is a preview of their new app for the iPhone which is coming in September. I know I’m excited!

    Hi there

I’ve used your software to upgrade my 1.1.4 to 2.0.2 with 100% success. Everything was “exactly as it said on the tin”, but I have a question:

I just plugged my iphone into my iMac and it popped up saying that the carrier settings have an available update. Is it possible to do this update without locking up my phone, or should I wait until I get the all clear from you guys?

The last thing I need is to find my phone locked after having so much success using your software (twice) in the past…

    Many thanks…. Steev

Hi Steve - even if you accept that, it will say something along the lines of ‘carrier not found’ (as you don’t have a legitimate carrier) so you may as well just ignore it.

So an update on the Cookies problem!! It might be worth noting that if you unlock the phone before actually visiting a secure website, the iPhone won’t create a Cookies.plist file and subsequently you are asked repeatedly to put in your username and passwords on facebook, Google etc. I found a solution:

Apparently after upgrading to 2.02 you must visit at least 1 website such as facebook BEFORE jailbreaking the phone. Did this in Friday, has worked perfectly since! Hope this helps!

    Thanks

Hi! Is Cydia available in iphone version 2.0? I upgraded from 1.1.4 to version 2.0.1 and then to 2.0.2 using your software without any problem except that the “Show My Caller ID” feature of my iphone is not working anymore after upgrading to the above latest softwares. I’m thinking of downgrading back to version 2.0 because of this problem but I forgot if Cydia was available in version 2.0 before. I don’t want to lose Cydia, you know. Thanks!

    hi jodi

I’m confused! Can I just download and install your 2.02 firmware if I’m already running your 2.01 version? Or do I have to use the full instructions for PC as given on your site?
    Thanks

Hi Sue - yes just download and install our 2.0.2 firmware by holding down the shift key and click restore and then choose our 2.0.2 firmware file.

I have a couple of questions. I am about to buy a 2g 8gb iphone and it has been jailbroke and has several apps on it and is running 1.1.4 can I update straight to the 2.0.2 firmware? Also is it possible to do so without losing the other apps. Also what benefits are there to updating, what do I get with the updates? Thanks

You won’t be able to update straight to version 2.0.2 using just iTunes, but using our software you will. You will lose all your apps having updated but these can be easily reinstalled. The apps from the iTunes store are vastly superior anyway, and this is what you get by upgrading.

    Hi Jody,

I have been using your unlock software since the past few months, and never in this transition i experienced any problems with my iphone, thanks to iphoneunlockuk. I didnt get a chance to thank you for your amazing software, and the updates that you support each and every time apple has one.
Keep up the good work !!
I did the 2.02 update from itunes and my iphone works perfect.

Updated to update 2.0.2 from iTunes without issues. The phone is still unlocked and works great.

One issue I’m having is that my EDGE setting still don’t show under the Network Settings — anyway I could get that to show so that I can configure it?
Just put in a sim card from an unofficial provider to get the menu up, then enter your settings for your provider, then when you put your own sim back in the settings will remain

I have asked the question earlier. You told me to wait for the new unlock software for 2.0.2, then later you told me that I can unlock the phone now. But the “1 click software” link says 2.0, Does it work for 2.0.2.? Do I need to downgrade back to 1.1.4 before use your unlock software ?
Again, Here is my status: I accidentally updated my 1gen iphone 8GB with unlocked 1.1.4/JB to 2.0.2 on itunes. Now the phone is locked out. I have regular AT&T phone plan SIM(not iphone plan). Thanks
Just use our unlock software - it will work even though you’re on 2.0.2.

Hi! I’ve just upgraded from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 but the problem is that i lost cydia. how can i get cydia back? pls. help. Thanks!
You can either restore back to OUR 2.0.1 or wait for our unlocked 2.0.2. As it says in the body of this article, if you update using Apple’s firmware then you remain unlocked but you lose jailbreak (and hence Cydia) and the ability to run unapproved applications. Some people dont care for the unofficial apps, and just want to be unlocked.

Hi, I have a UN-unlocked 2.02 on the ATT network US, if I choose to unlock it and still remain on the ATT network will I be able use all the fuctions, youtube V voicemail and such. I may be travelling overseas hence the question and will I be able to sign back on to ATT when I get back?
    Fareed

Hi Fareed, if you unlock it you will still be able to use your AT&T plan - it’ll simply enable you to use other sim cards when you are roaming. Hope that helps.

Hi Ryan - sadly you will lose any Cydia apps and associated media (but not official apple apps)

Is the price of unlocked iPhone unfortunately, you just have to install them again. Normally there’s not an update every week - its just there’s a few bugs with firmware 2.0 which Apple are rapidly ’squishing’.

    August 19, 2008 at 9:16 am

if we wait for your firmware, will we still lose cydia apps and their associated media (i.e. wallpapers, MxTube videos). I waited for your firmware for 2.0.1 for the same reason, and while i was led to believe i wouldn’t lose them as above, i lost everything and had to download it all again as these apps media don’t backup when synced.

thanks and keep up the good work
