iPhone Bluetooth Stack to be Hacked

Apparently Chinese developers are working on hacking the iPhone bluetooth stack such that additional functionality is provided on the iPhone, including:

  • Transmission of audio using the A2DP protocol
  • Send/Receive Files over bluetooth
  • Sync with other devices such as laptops, other mobiles

This is great news, although to be honest, such functionality should have been included from the get-go. We will be keeping our customers up-to-date with any developments, expect to see something around Easter time.

what does this mean that when 3.0 is released i will be able to send music from my iPhone to other mobile phones through bluetooth. Why hasn’t this been possible before on the iPhone, it seems stupid as every other mobile phone has bluetooth.

Hi Christian – I suspect the project has been discontinued, seeing as version 3.0 which comes out in a couple of months enables all these features.
