Does everyone know you can buy iPhones WITHOUT contract at o2, Carphone Warehouse and the Apple Stores?
Every day we get many emails from people unaware that they can buy iPhones WITHOUT contract from Carphone Warehouse and the Apple Stores for only £269
Basically all iPhones are sold WITHOUT a contract in-store as you sign up to the contract using iTunes when you get home! Thus instead of doing that, you simply use our software.
Obviously you must not specifically request an iPhone without contract, as they probably will not sell it to you then, but just innocently ask for one as you won’t sign anything regarding the 18 month contract, then in the comfort of your own home you can unlock and activate it and put in your existing sim card
SPREAD THE NEWS, stop the unscrupulous ebay profiteers from selling these exact same goods for a ridiculous £369.99

Do I need to add an internet bundle onto my existing Orange phone deal to make sure I am not spending a fortune on browsing?

I’ve just renewed my contract with Orange and been tempted by the iPhone. What exactly can’t be used on it when used with your product and my Orange sim card?
All features can be used!

Does any one know how to correct the error 1630 which displays when you connect I phone mk1 to Itunes
A pop up asks if you wish to update connection settings if you click yes, the error occurs.

Hi Andrew – that’s simply not true what they’ve told you. We wouldn’t have a business if we couldn’t unlock it fully.

Great product “Does exactly what it says on the tin”. Lucky I came across this site just prior to bidding on ebay.
Visited Carphone warehouse and then downloaded this product. I now have a Brand New iphone and software to unlock should I accidently lock it again on the itune website.

Hi, sorry to keep repeating the same questions over and over but, if I buy the £169 iphone from o2 and unlock it, will I be able to use my t mobile contract sim card in the phone and surf the web (even if i have not subscribed to their £20p/m hotspot thingy?)
Can I choose just to never connect to their wifi network? i.e
. use a home network or a free available network in the local vicinity?
Thanks in advance

and yes i’ve tried to checkout and pay and after entering my personal info, i was asked to enter my debit card information. but honestly i think its a tactic to scare people off!
can someone who bought the iphone from the carphone warehouse site shed some light on the subject?

Hi Matthew. If you leave the EDGE settings blank, the iphone WILL NOT connect to the internet if you are outside an available WIFI Network (so will not run up your Orange bill).
This will not affect the operation of the phone – you will still be able to receive and send calls/texts.
Matthew

“….Yes it will work! Its only connected if you check emails + safari – and you can easily turn off EDGE…”
Many thanks for this response. I’m afraid I’m still a bit confused though! If I turn off EDGE to stop email/safari access through the phone connection, will the phone still work for normal calls? What I’m after is:
-Phone connection through orange GSM SIM
-email + safari through WIFI only
-no open connection to email + safari through orange SIM as I don’t want to purchase mobile web access from orange
Many Thanks

My existing SIM card is pretty old at around 7 or 8 years (02 pay as you go).
My last phone a Nokia 6300 needed additional software sent from 02 to get
some features working (browser). I Have just bought the iphone from the 02 website — will the iphoneunlock software work with the old/er sim cards ok ??
Hi Arthur – it should work ok. Give it a go, if not just get them to send you a new sim card, but I fail to see why it wouldn’t work.

I’m on ‘3′ network and use my phone as a modem to connect my apple laptop to the internet thru bluetooth, if I buy an iPhone, unlock it with your software and use my ‘3′ sim will I still be able to do this?
Hi marco, sadly the 3 network is not compatible with the iPhone

Can I buy an iphone (to unlock with your software) from the Carphone Warehouse website after putting in my purchase credit card (for the phone), on the next page they seem to want a direct debit for O2. By the way congrats on your excellent website
If you’re buying online, just get one from apple.com/ukstore

Sounds cool. I understand a UK sim will work with a US bought iPhone + your software (?) Great, cos I’m off to the states next month!
My question: I’ve been told that an activated iphone is ‘permanently’ connected to the www via the unlimited access on the O2 contract. If I unlock and put in, say, an orange sim will it run up my orange bill by automatically connecting to the web all the time, or when i open safari? + If I want to use safari via wifi how do i control the iPhone to connect via wifi only, not by the mobile network?
Many Thanks
Yes it will work! Its only connected if you check emails + safari – and you can easily turn off EDGE, or alternatively simply purchase unlimited data from orange, its about £7 a month I believe

Quote ’stop the unscrupulous ebay profiteers from selling these exact same goods for a ridiculous £369.99′
Question – Why does this website sell un-locked phones for £350. If the system is so simple, why don’t you sell for £300, ie the £270 for an i-phone from 02, plus the £30 fee for unlocking?
Thanks
Ed
Because Ed, we have to have the hassle of travelling to the shop, unlocking it, shipping it to you, and admin costs! The ‘hassle’ factor is what we charge £50 for.

Is it possible to buy the i-phone like this from the apple and carphone warehouse websites? Or should I go into store to buy?
Also, I think the Orange tarrif for ‘unlimited’ Wap usage is £8, but it limits at 30mb, is this sufficient?

Hi just a question regarding itunes, I have music on my pc itunes can i sync this with my iphone without becoming ‘locked’? Also can you buy an iphone form an O2 outlet without contract signing / some other commitment? Thanks D
Yes you can sync your iPhone without it becoming locked – and yes you can buy without contract signing – although don’t specifically ASK for one without a contract, as in fact NONE of them come with a contract, its only when you get home, but they’ll simply refuse to sell you an iPhone if they think you’re going to unlock it.

Hi I just bought the iphone sim free but when i tried to activate the iphone to use the itunes it says i needed the special iphone sim card. how can i get itunes on my iphone with my normal sim card?
Its not SIM free then – you need to purchase and run our software.

If I unlocked an iphone using your software, will I be able to sync calendars between my mac and iphone without the phone locking up? Also once I’ve paid the £29.99 fee for the software, will I be able to unlock and update my iphone as much as I wanted?
Yes, its a one off fee

i have a contract with 02(1 year left) and they wont put me on iphone tariff unless i pay off my exsisting tariff, could i use the iphone on my exsisting 02 tariff and would i lose any functionality of the phone, also i am already signed up to itunes for my ipod so how would this work with iphone , thanks
Hi Jim – this is the perfect situation. You simply use it on your existing tarrif – all you lose is the visual voicemail (you get normal voicemail instead) and the iPod will work perfectly – it’ll simply sync across

Does the iphone have the same functionality as a Blackberry -At present I have to pay twice-once for Nokia phone contract and once for Blackberry -want to replace both with the iphone and use an unlocked iphone so that I can ditch the Blackberry and transfer existing Nokia sim card and not have to pay for emails
Regards
Ross Peters
Hi Ross – it sure does, and then some! Just make sure you have unlimited data with your existing Nokia sim card (pretty much all providers do it for around £5-£10 per month)

If i get an unlocked I-phone or use your software can i still use the i-tunes app inside the i-phone to get music etc? Even if i’m using say a T-mobile sim card?
Yes you can use the iTunes application to get music! And its ALWAYS done over Wifi so its kind of irrelevant what sim card you have. iTunes doesn’t care! You simply connect to the WiFi music store, enter your iTunes account information and make the download.
More importantly for me…when the new 2.0.0 software comes out will i be able to make use of the ‘app store’ feature with an unlocked i-phone and different sim?
Again, absolutely, 100% you will be able to

March 22, 2008 at 12:21 pm
I have updated twice now using the iphone unlock software and providing you follow the easy step by step instructions it works perfectly.
All of the features work on my iphone, i’m on orange. Bought my iphone from carphone warehouse with 1.1.2 OTB.
Apple’s 1.1.3 was a bit unstable but now i’m on 1.1.4 and again it works perfectly. O2 are just annoyed because they spent millions and it was a complete waste. Oh well, makes up for them ripping people off in the past as both BT cellnet and O2.
Si
March 19, 2008 at 2:03 pm
I noticed that O2 and Apple make you pay by debit/credit card and not cash. Would they not keep these details and contact you about signing a contract?
Simon – no they don’t. This is purely so that people don’t buy hundreds of iPhones and unlock them
Chris
March 18, 2008 at 1:35 pm
iPhone is restricted to use on the O2 network unless you are roaming. If you do not enter into and remain in an airtime agreement with O2 on one of our tariffs for iPhone, you will not be able to use the phone functionality of your iPhone. If you attempt to unlock iPhone and use it on another network, it may become permanently unusable. Making unauthorised modifications to the software on your iPhone violates the iPhone software license agreement, and the inability to use your iPhone due to unauthorized software modifications is not covered under your iPhone’s warranty.
I just saw this on the o2 website. What are the chances of an I-phone becoming unusable and a waste of money if your software is used?
Thanks
Our software is 100% safe Chris – of course o2 are going to try and dissuade people from running the iPhone on any network but their own, they’ve spent millions trying to get it exclusively on their own.
We’ve got thousands of customers, and every single one of them is happily running their iPhone on another network. No iPhone has become ‘unusable’ having used our software.
Chris
March 18, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Can the i-phone still use i-tunes and not sign up to the contract? I.e can the full functionality still be utilised, (the i-pod function) through i-tunes without having to sign up to the contract? Don’t apple push updates onto the i-phone, like microsoft do with the x-box 360?
Thanks
Yes you can still use iTunes as normal – its purely the contract activating part. Apple notify you if an update is available and you have the option to install it or not
Adam Watson
March 17, 2008 at 10:54 am
I have heard that if you unlock an iPhone and then try and run updates, your iPhone will be blocked. will this happen with your software?
Every update that apple release an update, we release a plug-in to our software, so you are never locked out.

You can use wifi free of charge! And you can use the mobile internet if you have data with your provider (Orange, T-Mobile etc)

Hi, If I purchased as phone as above and the unlocked it, does it still have all of the O2 branding
Thanks
There is NO o2 branding on an iPhone
Andrew
March 14, 2008 at 3:47 pm
If I purchesed your software to unlock and activate the phone but not taking out the O2 contract, can I, at a later date, still take out the contract with O2 if my usage of data & web means that it is more economic? How would this be done?
Just restore the phone and use iTunes to get the contract

I purchased an iPhone from Carphone Warehouse back in November, not had any problems with it since and the updates have worked everytime!
The only thing you sign in store is to say that you can not get a refund on the iPhone, so no need to fret when they ask you to sign a contract!

Will Apple 02 not tie you into contract for committment for line rental at some stage as they have your debit/credit card details and can tie you in? or NOT? or are you free to “roam” with the unlocked phone?
No they don’t

Do I just go in and ask for an iphone without a contract?
This is one thing you must NOT do as they probably will not sell it to you!! Just go in and innocently ask for an iPhone, as you don’t sign a contract in-store for it, you simply do it when you get home via iTunes

what features would i lose if i used say and orange sim card in an unlocked iphone ?
surfer
February 23, 2008 at 5:04 am
does the unlock ensures we can use the sim card from any country (asia) and still able to access the full features of iphone?
Yes that’s correct – you can use any sim card as long as its a GSM sim and you get full access to all the features of the iPhone without limitation (only exception being visual voicemail, you get normal voicemail).

If an iPhone is bought without a contract, ie it is inactive, can this software unlock it?
Firstly, ALL iPhones come without a contract (well you don’t sign the contract in store, you do it when you get home via iTunes), and of course this software can unlock and activate it – that’s the point
