8GB PRICE CRASH!
o2 have just slashed the price of the 8GB in their shops to £169…. but only if you purchase it from an o2 store. You don’t have to sign up to a contract either!!! This makes it cheaper than an 8GB iPod Touch!
You can then come to us and get it unlocked for £29.99 and get our fantastic insurance for £5.88 per month which covers loss, damage, theft, etc etc
BARGAIN!

Does anyone know how I can access the telephone contacts that I copied from my old phone to the SIM prior to transferring to the iPhone? I cannot see them at all and can’t seem to work out how to copy contacts from the SIM to the Iphone memory. Thanks
Hi Tim – use our SIMport program, located within Installer. Our unlocking area documents how to do this.

Hi Daniel.
Hmm, that is odd, the CPW shouldnt have done a credit check as that is done online with itunes/02 etc. That is why you can buy the phone as a gift and the credit check is done on the person who registers it online. I signed carphone warehouse papers saying that I cannot bring the phone back to the shop unless the creit check fails. I have no idea what you have signed however. Did it have direct debit details on it? If in doubt, go back/call the shop and explain your situation and say you bought it as a gift.. Hope it helps, let me know.

I’ve just bought an 8GB from O2 but Im having problems sending text messages. Now and again it says error sending message so I have to clear the conversation before it goes through, its not that the memory is full because there are only a few messages there.
Is anyone else having the same problems?

I bought an IPhone 8gb (last one) from CarPhoneWarehouse last week. I Downloaded the UnlockUK software and installed accordingly. At CarphoneWarehouse they did a credit check first and than made me sign a contract, also on my receipt it says contract. Does this mean that I am bound to that O2 contract or will this only happen if I install it through ITunes with O2? Does anyone know…?

I bought one from carphone warehouse shop. I said it was a gift (and too be honest i didnt really have to say that). Paid by CC and took it home and unlocked it. Easy. Now, will they be willing to sell me another one though, I guess there is no limit to the amount of ‘gifts’ I can buy people

My sister wants to buy an iphone to unlock….she went into the Carphone Warehouse to buy a 8GB iphone & was told she had to pay with either a Credit or Debit card!
Can you not buy an iphone with cash? If you must buy an iphone with a bank card, will O2 be able to track the card and extract the monthly bill payments from the account associated with the card?
Thanks

Can you people not read? To get an iPhone for £169, here’s a handy step by step guide:
1. Walk into any O2 store.
2. Say “Good morning/afternoon, I’d like an 8GB iPhone please”.
3. At this point, the nice man will go and get you one.
4. When he returns, say “thank you, that’s the badger!” and hand over £169 using your preferred payment method.
5. The nice man might ask you for your name and address at this point, which he stores on the till. This has nothing at all to do with signing you up to a contract. (Note, no one is going to turn up at your house and demand to see your iPhone).
6. The man will now hand over your iPhone in a stupid O2 bag, along with a receipt for your purchase. Thank the nice man for his help, and bid him “good day”.
7. Get home, unbox your lovely new phone.
8. Purchase your software solution from iphoneunlockuk.com and unlock your phone. Its really easy, and takes lees than 4 minutes. Honest.
9. Once you’ve put your own simcard in, the first thing you should do is ring your local O2/Apple/Carphone Warehouse store, laugh loudly like a madman for 10 seconds, then hang up.
Simple.

Do not buy from the carphone warehouse online, on the final stage after entering your card details, you are required to enter direct debit details. If you cannot go instore simply CALL the CPW and say your purchasing it on behalf of a partner for a gift etc etc. They confirmed to me three times on the phone that all I will be billed is the initial £169. Word of advice tho, buy asap as they’re ‘out of stock now’ and chances are will only have a few more coming in, as they’re getting rid of their stock ready for the 3G version later this year.

I’m from the Netherlands and I want to buy a Iphone and ship it to the Netherlands. I’m wondering who I can get the Iphone 8 GB (169,00) without having to sign any contract or something like that. I want to contact a shop and ask them to send it to me. Does anyone has any suggestions/tips for me?
Thanks a lot, carl_vanheyst@hotmail.com

I tried buying online at both Carphone Warehouse and O2 .. And when you come to purchase the handset you do go through the motions of signing up for a contract …
I cancelled this process and just went to the local shop.
Carphone warehouse said I had to sign up in store or I couldn’t buy one … O2 however, just gave me the phone and told me how to activate through iTunes.
Easy.
Now I just need the software

Hi Jon.
Looking at O2’s T&C’s (http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/frequentlyaskedquestions/prepurchase) – you can buy as a gift and not sign up for a contract..

Hi Jon.
Hmm, looking at O2’s website it does state that you would need a 18 mth contract – I’m not sure that that applies if you buy one from the shop though. Looking at Carphone warehouse, their website also state that you need a contract – whereas before it didn’t. I shall investigate….

I went to an O2 shop the other day and they said that they couldn’t sell one to me without a contract and that I couldn’t buy the phone outright, so now I am very confused. I am based in the isle of man and they are not bringing the phone over here to buy on my contract so I need to buy one outright, what are the options again and how much will it all cost? Sorry for these questions but I am getting mixed answers.

Hi, I have just been on both the carphone warehouse and o2 websites and wondered if someone could shed some light on this for me please…..If I add either the 8gb or 16gb to my basket and go to the checkout, the ‘monthly cost’ is – and all they are asking for is payment for the phone? Do I need an o2 contract or not? Thanks.
Hi Dave – buy it from a shop, NOT the website. As you will sign up to monthly direct debits over the website

Cancelling your direct debit with your bank will almost be a contract violation and you will be liable legally for the entire 18 month contract.
Far better to get one from a shop where you don’t have to sign a contract.

I ordered one last night, and you’re right, you do have to put in bank details for direct debit, but then all you have to do is cancel the direct debit with your bank, and I think they will probably send the mandate to you to sign first anyway. I also went to the shop today, and bought another one, no contract to sign. Just about to buy this software to unlock it.

does this mean that us early adopters have missed out and need to get rid of our 8gb phones, to make way for the 2nd gen phone that should be out in June. The sooner we shift them the better right?
Hi Barry – I wouldn’t say that. To be honest they’ll definitely bring out a 32GB model in June, thats for sure, but as for 2nd gen – you’ll be able to upgrade your iPhone to that software as well! The only difference is the possibility of a 3G model which personally I’m not expecting until later this year, which will only offer marginally quicker download speeds anyway. The rest of the iPhone will be identical.

Chris – buy one in store at either Carphone or O2 – say it is for a gift – there is no sign up/contract etc unless you sign up through iTunes, which i’m sure you wouldnt do

Where is the best place to buy one?

Chris – don’t buy one from the websites, you WILL have to do a contract that way.

I Have just bought one from the 02 shop on line (because the local shop had 2 of them overnight before the price crash !!). They charged me just the
advertised price and asked for no contract details (you do that at apple if you want)

The Carphone warehouse website has this offer too.
Can anyone tell me if it is safe to buy the iphone from the o2 website, ie avoid signing up for monthly direct debits. I read on another page of this site that the carphonewarehouse website asks for details to be input to get the direct debit set-up when you near completion of the transaction.
Thanks

Hi,
I bought one from CPW online today and they took my details (bank details, credit card and set up a direct debit service) but no value was specified. Would this mean they would start charging me £35 per month if I fail to activate?
How do I get your software and if I want a technician for this how do i contact u?
thanks
To get our software simply purchase it online. If you want a technician to do it just come to our store in Birmingham.
